In what proved to be a fitting end to a gruelling trilogy, Sheffield hero Clinton Woods battled back from the brink of disaster in the ninth round at the Reebok Centre in Bolton this Saturday night, to claim a brutal 12 round split decision, retaining his IBF light-heavyweight title and finally conquering his nemesis Glen Johnson.

An emotional Woods stated in the post fight interview "Since winning the world title and fulfilling my dream, that was the only thing left what I wanted, and that was to beat Glen Johnson, and I've done that".

With renewed qualities in Clinton Woods only being a champion can produce, a huge domestic battle with super middleweight king Joe Calzaghe is now in the offing, and a 'mega' fight would be nothing more than the likeable Yorkshireman deserves.
